Light is the photographic medium par excellence; it is to the photographer what words are to the writer; color and paint to the painter; wood, metal, stone, or clay to the sculpture...Nowhere in the entire field of photography is the need for photographic seeing greater than in regards to light which, as far as the photographer is concerned, has specific qualities, forms, types, and functions." -Andreas Feininger: Photographic SeeingLast October, my sister came to visit us. We took a lot of photos on that trip, mainly with my handy dandy iPhone. There was one day in particular where I found the inspiration to do a photo shoot with her. I really loved the contrast of the black outfit and dark green background with the light on her face and hair. The simple color palate made for excellent subject focus. And the subject was my sister.
