Gaver Pumpkin Patch with friends.
So a few local photographer friends of mine and I went looking for a pumpkin patch to take photos at. One recommended Gaver Farm in Mt Airy. It's a beautiful location. Anyhow, all who had small children brought them with us, which was perfect for practicing. We went around 10:30 am and shot for about an hour. I used Fuji Superia 400, rated it at 200 and pushed it 1 stop. I sent my film over to Richard Photo Lab, cuz they are amazing, and tried out a color profile.
Here's the thing about Richard Photo Lab and color profiles, top photographers pay them to make their look consistent, no matter what film type or lab technician, and if you take a look at their client list, you can use one of their color pacs, too!
So, anyhow, I looked through their client list, and the websites of each and realized many of their clients like the light and airy look. I, on the other hand, prefer a more contrasty and slightly dark look. I enjoy hints of green over yellow. After looking a while, I came across Autumn DeWilde. Being new to photography, and not even knowing what "twin lens" meant until a few months ago, I really didn't know who she was. Her website wasn't like the rest of the clients. She has a Tumblr page full of photos of famous people and no indication of film stock, lab, how she rated, what kind of camera she uses, etc. How was I supposed to know how my work would come out if I picked her color pac?
To top it off, I decided to go ahead and try the Frontier scanner, which costs more and takes sooo long to get back! 15 days from the time they received the film!! Needless to say, I think I'll be sticking with the Noritsu for a while, because I am not patient enough.
Well, Richard Photo Lab killed it with these scans. Seriously, I've been so happy with all the work I've gotten back from them. I know they are more expensive than other labs, but it's totally worth it to me.

Gaver Farm also has a tree farm! It's right next to the pumpkin patch, too.
